Emotional Mastery

Exercise 1

  • Recall  the times when you felt a discomfort because of either

 Encountering  a situation or

  1. The  response  of another  person.

Choose one area of discomfort and describe how you experienced it. What were your physiological or bodily reactions, thoughts, gestures?   Ask yourself this question, “What emotion I am feeling within”? Name the emotion, you can also use the emotional wheel to identify your emotion.

  • Is this a familiar feeling to you?

Are there other emotions you are experiencing along with the earlier identified emotion? Feel and see how is it for you to feel these emotions. Don’t try to change or formulate a quick solution. Feel these emotions for 30 seconds . Just keep observing these emotions as though you are watching these emotions

Remember 

  • It’s ok to have and feel these emotions.
  • It is not necessary to feel judgmental on these emotions

 

  • Check for any memories associated with these emotions
  • What  memories are associated with these emotions?
  • What  perceptions  have developed or gets active along with these emotions. 

This exercise will help build awareness on how you perceive situation of discomfort
