What I enjoyed about the NICCS course was that it gave me hands-on experience. Whatever was taught in class was practiced among peers first and then with supervision, we had the opportunity to see clients one on one. I didn’t get this kind of learning in college while doing MSc Psychology, which made me doubt my own competency back then. In Nibbana, it’s really the way I got supervised at each step that made me become confident with my own counselling skills. What is also different about the course is the personal work sessions that we are made to take as part of the course. Being the client myself and discussing my issues with my own therapist helped me get a deeper understanding of the theoretical concepts. It helped me internalise my learning by connecting it to my personal life challenges.
